Bendigo Day Surgery is a modern, purpose-built surgical centre which opened in October 2008. This stand-alone facility was established to complement the existing medical and hospital-based services in Bendigo and Central Victoria.

In the past, most surgical procedures were performed in hospitals. Improvements in surgical technique, anaesthesia and pain control allow nearly 60% of all surgery to be performed as a day case. Patients are admitted to the Day Surgery just before their procedure, and go home in the care of an adult who can stay with them on the first postoperative night.
